The Winter Solstice and it's Reminder to Rest, Reflect, and Renew
On this 21st of Dec, we have the Winter Solstice, which marks an interesting moment in the year: the longest night and the turning point where light slowly begins to return. I take it as a reminder that nothing is stagnant, and no matter how dark something may look like, there is always light coming back if we allow the nature of things flow in its own way :)
The Winter Solstice also marks the start of the Winter season, which reminds us to embrace stillness. As nature around us slows down, everything outside seems more quiet, dormant, and without too many distractions. This external silence invites our inner world to rise to the surface. If we allow that movement to happen, we can find ourselves in moments of self-reflection, opening space to the voice of our own needs and desires.
Autumn taught us to let go of whatever was no longer serving us. Winter takes us deeper into that process, asking us to wait in the unknown. It’s a season of patience, of trusting that transformation is unfolding beneath the surface, even when we can’t see it.
By listening to our body’s rhythms, we can learn to act only when the energy is available. This approach not only prevents burnout but also allows for actions that feel aligned and intentional.
With that, we build up our reserves—physically, emotionally, and mentally—before leaping into action. It’s a time to step away from pushing and striving, letting our bodies and minds recover so that when spring arrives, we can meet it with vigor and purpose.
That can be challenging since we are entering the holiday season full of social gatherings, celebrations, and obligations which often requires a lot from our internal resources. So here is a reminder to bring some balance to these moments of connection with time for solitude and restoration.
There are many tools available to support you doing that: a quiet walk, a reflective journaling session, or even a few minutes of deep breathing can work wonders for replenishing your energy. By respecting your limits during this season you are practicing self-care.
My support for you...
I have two ways to support you in this season: online and face-to-face, or body-to-body :)
Kaula Tantra Yoga is a sequence of asanas (body postures) which teaches us to navigate this process of acting from a place of stillness. I have a recorded class available here.
And of course, coming for a bodywork session is another tool to help recharging from inside out! By laying on the mat and letting me stretch, rock and move your body, we stimulate the energy flow, allowing your body to replenish.
Looking forward to having you coming for a session!
With love,
Tarsi.
